Network Transformers

Safe and Reliable Electrical Service

Prolec GE Safe-NET® network transformers are capable of handling significant short-term overload conditions in applications where safety, reliability, service continuity and minimum maintenance are the key objectives.

Certain environments have space limitations that require network transformers to be installed in various applications, such as indoor/outdoor vaults or inside buildings, putting them in close proximity to pedestrian traffic. Due to this placement, transformers can be either partially or fully submerged in fresh water or salt water run-offs, which can cause corrosion and damage to the network transformer.

Our patented, corrosion-resistant tank design, evolved from products with 85+ years of service, minimizes the danger from a transformer rupture event, mitigating its impact to adjacent assets and public safety.

Applications
  • Underground metropolitan vault applications
  • Government, commercial, institutional and industrial facilities
  • Office towers, skyscrapers
  • Vault applications with occasional/continuous submersion

Safe-NET® can also be applied to non-network applications where superior sealing and corrosion protection are of primary importance. These non-network applications also include inter-tie [step] transformers for interconnecting two different voltage systems.
